The statements of the WHO are notoriously contradictory. While creating an atmosphere of fear and insecurity, pointing to am impending global public health crisis, the WHO has also acknowledged that the underlying symptoms are moderate and that “most people will recover from swine flu within a week, just as they would from seasonal forms of influenza” (WHO statement, quoted in the Independent, August 22, 2009).
The WHO’s July 10 guidelines have set the stage for a structure of scantiness and inadequacy with regard to data collection at the national level. National governments of member States of the WHO are not required to corroborate the spread of the A H1N1 swine flu, through laboratory tests.
This video interview, in two parts, made by Morris Herman for the Palestinian Mothers Network asks the Swedish journalist about the article that currently is in the news, reporting on the claims made to the journalist from Palestinians about the belated return of their sons, maimed, killed and their organs exploited by the IDF, and the subsequent strange burial procedures these men had to undergo. The second video talks more about the Israeli position to Sweden and death threats made to the journalist.
Out in the street, you soon notice fewer cabs and town cars. More people are walking or using public transportation, even though, the fares recently went up. Even that is deceptive because there are still a lot of tourists in Midtown to complicate the picture. New Yorkers have other things on their minds. There are retail vacancies on every block. Other stores are discounting everything. The fast food places have their specials going for $2-5 dollars. Many of the clothing stories look like good will shops. When a JC Penny opened a store in Midtown, 15,000 people applied for 500 jobs.
What do we have a right to know? In this web-based age, where we can Google almost everything, you’d think we would be better informed than we are. We have Freedom of Information laws and a President who has promised transparency, offering some details on what he’s doing on an easy to access website. Yet, there is much more that we still don’t know, and maybe never will.
That is always a good question, but the way it was posed by Robert S. Mueller 3rd, the Director of the FBI, an agency of a Department of “Justice” strains credulity.
Before I get into discussing the responses to his letter to Scottish authorities, a letter that the Herald in Glasgow found “savage,” may I remind us all that his polemical questions criticizing Scotland’s compassionate release of convicted Lockerbie airplane bomber and former Libyan intelligence agent, Abdelbeset Ali Mohmed al Megrahi, was coming from, shall we say, a tainted source?
A virtual war broke out in the in the streets of Pretoria, the capital, yesterday with AWOL soldiers storming the Union Building government premises.
