I had a difficult decision to make yesterday, 24 January, whether to go to the demo at the BBC over the Gaza aid appeal or, whether to go to the Royal Festival Hall where trumpeter Abraham Wilson, Dennis Baptiste and others had put together a jam for aspiring young musicians and frankly after the events of the past few weeks I’m glad I went to the RFH. The event was an inspiration and restored my faith in our essential humanity as well as being an exciting musical event.
Below are some of the photos I took that I hope convey some of the energy and excitement these young musicians brought to the gig. A big up to musicians Abraham Wilson and Dennis Baptiste (there are others involved but I don’t have their names, so apologies). A special word about Abraham Wilson whose encouragement was awe-inspiring. The youngsters ranged in age from around 5 to maybe 19 or 20 and regardless of their skill Wilson encouraged them to let it all hang out!
