This, of course, is how internet-based media with essentially no resources are often treated by corporate journalism. If Monbiot had been targeting a powerful think tank or political party, he would perhaps have checked if the posting was “correct”

News channel bosses must be patting themselves on the back on their marathon terror coverage. For three days they had treated the viewers to live coverage of the multiple terror strikes in Mumbai. In doing so, they probably set a record in television history.
But as the current crisis goes to show, we are far indeed from the end of history. Capitalism is full of surprises. And, for that matter, so is socialism – which is very likely to be soon heard from again as a serious democratic political force. When the logic of capitalist markets goes haywire, people can see the point, and the possibility, of new systemic alternatives to it.

It is inconceivable to think that the ruling elites of our planet’s most powerful states have not been aware of the disastrous impact of rampant (and mostly useless) production on the planet’s biosphere, regardless of their public pronouncements.
I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the support you have given our family over the last 3 ½ years. We have been humbled by your support and on days like today, knowing that you are behind us, gives us the strength to carry on. Today was an incredibly sad day for our family.
